At M.A.G.I.C. Clinic (Metabolics and Genetics in Canada), clinical research is more than a treatment option; it’s a lifeline for complex patients who often have few or no other choices. As Alberta’s first community-based clinic specializing in rare diseases, metabolic conditions, and genomics-integrated care, we combine advanced diagnostics, multidisciplinary treatment, and real-world clinical trials to generate insights where data is often missing.
Our clinical trial division operates under a streamlined, ethics-informed model designed to reduce burden on both patients and providers. Through embedded research coordinators, innovative recruitment strategies, and our flagship VIPeR Registry, we enable both pharmaceutical and investigator-led studies to reach underserved populations. We adhere strictly to protocol and ethical and regulatory requirements, with a rigorous quality control framework that ensures data integrity and reproducibility. As a consistent top global recruiter in rare disease trials, M.A.G.I.C. is equipped to host everything from early-phase studies to longitudinal registries, producing high-quality data that meets the exacting standards of sponsors, regulators, and clinicians alike.
With ongoing collaborations across neurology, endocrinology, psychology, immunology, and pediatric genomics, M.A.G.I.C. is committed to building Alberta’s capacity as a global leader in precision medicine research.
Our team brings deep experience, having conducted over 50 clinical trials to date and currently running more than 20 active clinical trials. We maintain a Level 2 Biosafety accreditation, enabling us to safely conduct gene therapy and RNA therapy trials involving both intravenous and oral drugs. Our contributions have helped advance treatments in diseases such as PKU, Gaucher disease, and Fabry disease, including supporting drug approvals. In November 2023, we proudly performed Canada’s first community-based gene therapy, further underscoring our leadership in the field. Our work is informed by a growing body of scientific contributions, with multiple peer-reviewed publications in the past year.
