The Consortium is primarily concerned with projects that are evaluations of safety, effectiveness, and/or value of a technology or other intervention that is currently used in clinical practice (i.e., not an intervention being tested in a randomized controlled trial in a limited patient population).

Canadian Biosample Repository

Edmonton
Registries and Repositories
Multiple

The program aims to implement registration of new collections of human research biospecimens that are collected, stored, and used for health research. The 1,137,000 samples stored at our facility are tracked using CBSR’s own software, Biobank. Samples are given a unique identifier in software and assigned a location in our freezers. Biobank rapidly generates lists of requested samples so we can pull more then a thousand samples a day. Biobank is an open source collaboration between CBSR, & Ontario Health Services, available for free on GitHub along with several other open source tools we have developed
